Welcome to Ability Resource Center’s first quarterly program and service
announcement email. We specialize in supporting children and adults with
learning and attention differences and their families. Four times a year, we
will inform you of our service offerings for the coming quarter. You are on our
contact list because you either registered on-line, provided us your contact
information at a community presentation, or you have had professional contact
with one of our staff members.
We appreciate your interest in our services, and are pleased to have the
opportunity to serve the East Bay community.
In the fall of 2004, we will offer the following programs:
LAUNCH PROGRAM - for preteens (11 or 12 year olds) with learning and
attention difficulties. This program is a 10-week psycho-educational program
specifically designed to promote academic, organizational and life skills. We
will also focus on improving self-esteem and understanding of LD/ADD. Launch
will include eight meetings, each one and one half hours long for the preteens
as well as two meetings of for their parents. It will be co-facilitated by Glenn
Gelfenbein, LMFT and Kathy Allen, MA.
SPY CLUB – This program is for students going into 4th, 5th or 6th
grade who have trouble getting their thoughts on paper. They can be struggling

ideas, or simply just hate writing. Spy Club members will learn ways to better
manage their writing difficulties by using a variety of methods to make writing
more enjoyable. There will be short periods of handwriting as well as
keyboarding instruction. Each session last an hour and fifteen minutes, and
include writing games, videos, outdoor activities (not strenuous) learning to
track and trail \\\"suspects,\\\" and developing our own secret codes
and ciphers. Facilitated by Kathy Allen, MA.
