Good Old Math Problems

At my fifth grade son's back-to-school night his teacher showed us how he writes the homework assignment on the board. He pointed to that day's assignment for math which said "page 15, do the odd problems, 1 to 13." The teacher commented how one child said, "But Mr. Fisher, which are the odd problems?" and all the parents chuckled at what they thought was a joke. When I got home, I asked my son Sean what are "the odd problems?". He answered in an exasperated tone," That's just it , Mom, I can't tell which problems are more odd than the others. They all looked sort of the same to me!" As soon as I said odd NUMBERED problems, he got it.
