:Hi. I am an adult with NLD and that does sound very familiar. I am pretty quiet too and people always wonder why. Although I wasn’t aware of it when I was younger, I think some of it is because talking does take quite a bit of effort for anyone, but it is especially true of those who have NLD. The effort is in trying to coordinate all the different activities that have to go on in order to get a cohesive thought out there. I’m really happy to hear that you took the time to ask her about that and you had the patience to figure it out. People with NLD are not always lucky enough to find someone with that much patience and understanding; keep up the good work! wondering if anyone else has experienced this difficulty. My daughter has NLD. She is a quiet person and I never really questioned her increased quiet while we walk in the mall or down the block or when she walks to class with friends. She rarely engages in conversation at these times. Then recently she told me its too hard to walk and talk at the same time. I have not read anything about this in Sue Thompsons book or anywhere else. It does remind me of the balance problems and the concentration some kids require to remain in their seats. Does the walk and talk difficulty sound familiar to anyone?
